Have you ever wonder how to stay motivated during working hours? Have you ever felt that during work and daily tasks you are not motivated enough?

Where does motivation at work really come from?

It doesn’t matter if you are working 9-5, a 12-hour shift or run your own company, you need a motivation to work. I’m sure we all have faced and experienced at some stage in our careers a burnout from long working hours and high levels of stress. There may even be a time when you experience boredom due to the lack of challenges at your workplace.

How can you get motivated at work If you don’t get relaxed at home, and how can you relax at home when you are stressed at work. This vicious cycle sounds endless right?

In both cases, leaving your job to seek opportunities may seem like the most ideal solution, however it is almost impossible to guarantee that you will not face the same situation in your next job or even worst. Rather than looking for an exit opportunity, an escape solution, you may want to consider strategies that will keep you motivated, to prevent burnout or boredom.

Motivation is like a burning fire. When you continue to sustain fire by adding coal it will keep burning than to revive one that has been put out. To keep fire going, you must recognise what truly motivates you. Motivation can come either through internal or external factors, providing monetary rewards, growth opportunities or simply organizing the way we work.

Below are some ideas / strategies where you can use daily to keep the fire of motivation going.

Set Personal Goals

Create your own personal goals, keep the fire going. Think and note down what do you want to achieve in your life. This can be as little as learning a new skill that will help you at work. Once these goals are completed, make sure to celebrate these mini milestones and reward yourself for your achievements.

Challenge yourself to develop a comfortable pace, which can help prevent boredom at work. Focus and work on your personal goals which can in return can set your mindset away from the daily stress.

 

Suggest new ideas

Unleash your creativity and suggest new ideas during working hours. Be more involved in creating and implementing new ideas, this way you will feel more engaged and motivated to work.

 

Plan your Schedule

To keep the motivation going, you might need to plan and schedule your activities for refilling that fire. Take time to plan your schedule and create a to-do list. Not having a plan in place, might cause overflowing of endless deadlines and suffer from burnout and stress much faster. Pace yourself by organizing an agenda with breaks to let yourself recharged and reconnect.

 

Create friendships

We are spending more time at work with our colleagues than with our families and friends.  Try to create friendships at work, this is a great motivation at work, having people to speak and communicate at work. You become more engage at your job and produce higher quality of work.

Show your truth and authentic self at work. Stay true to who you are and you will be able to know what you want to achieve in your job. Don’t follow the crowd, stand out by being you and be motivated to strive towards it.
